Beauty in the eye of the beholder
I am starting off this day with a big cup of coffee. It is monday morning after all. Mind you the little guy did sleep through the night for the first time. Which was really nice. He has been chatting a lot.
So with him feeling better and enjoying his time in playpen, this lets me have some time to have a daily beauty routine. Even if it isnt much, its still the little things that makes me feel put together even in sweats.
I wanted to share with you the products that make it to my face everyday, plus 2 products I love and use for special occasions. They are my top faves. My most grabbed items.
First off let's start with the cleanser. I really enjoy using the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water for dry and sensitive skin. Year round I have dry skin and it gets very sensitive. I use this two times daily and my skin loves it. It is also a great wake me up in the morning. Its quickly become a must have for me.
Now with a cleansed face its time to put things on it. And normally I don't wear too much to help my skin breathe. I just do my brows with Benefit's Gimme Brow gel in 3. This helps put the brows in place and also gives the illusion of thicker brows. Since I have freckles I tend to not put too much on my face, so I mainly just use concealer on my little pimples when they come in or any redness. The concealer I am liking right now is Maybelline's Dream Brightening Creamy Concealer in 10 Fair, I like the creamy texture which works for my dry skin as its not too liquidy but not too drying. For everyday I don't want an overwhelming black mascara so I use s blackened brown to match my eyelashes and give a more natural look. I use the Revlon UltraVolume mascara in Blackened Brown. For lips I tend to go for a more natural looking color, but not a bright nude. My lips are already a bit of a reddish, so for me I really like a burnt red as my natural look. One thats really good and a go to for me is Nyx Cosmetics Lingerie lip in Lipli12 Exotic. It is so smooth and goes on nice, it dries matte which for a natural look works. You can always add a clear gloss over it or layer a similar color lipstick for a fuller look. And that's pretty much all I do for my daily look. It's not much but it makes me feel normal again. ( plus at night I don't have to remove as much)
For keeping my skin and face moisturized as they do get dry, I find it way easier to have one product that does both. Saves me money, and steps. I really like the texture and consistency of Kiehl's Nurturing Baby Cream for Face and Body. It is also great for babies, which was a major selling point for me. Babies' skin is sensitive, and with mine also being sensitive it works out. You also don't need much as it is very moisturizing. You can find it online and in stores with their other baby products. They make such great products and they all don't require much so you get your moneys worth.
I have wanted to find a scent that I really liked for a while. And when I decided to test out Elizabeth & James Nirvana in rollerball form, I started to really enjoy the smell. And soon it became a staple smell for me. Now my son is always snuggling up in my neck and this scent will be something he will recognize his whole life. You know when you smell something and it reminds you of a loved one? Now this scent will be that for him. And oh what a greag scent. It's musky but yet feminine, which is something I really like. I haven't bought the full sized version yet, and mainly because I dont use much but also because the rollerball is so compact that I can pack it in my purse and go.
And now.... for the two special products I use for special occasions!
For big evenings out, that's when I whip out the foundation and do a whole look. The foundation I love, as it just blends in with my skin so well ( I also don't overload my face with it, a little goes a long way), is Nars Sheer Glow in Light 4 Deauville. It's a liquid foundation so it works well with my dry skin, I put a little bit all over my face as too much will look weird with my freckles. I really like the finish it gives. I have tried many foundations ( Drugstore and High End) and this has been my favourite.
The other product I love for special occasions is a mascara. So instead of my Revlon, I swap it out for a more dark look on my lashes. I really like the look the Mac Cosmetics InstaCurl in InstaBlack gives to my lashes. The wand also curls too which can bring out the lashes more which is really good. It has definitely been a good investment for my special outtings.
Now I have much more beauty products that I love and use. But the ones in this post are the ones I grab the most and use daily. I have many a fave lipstick and I do use an eyeliner from time to time. But for me it's all special occasion use for things like eyeliner. And that can be another post.
An evening out look. :)
Speaking of special occasions, my mommy time has come to an end, I know I know it's not a long time. But hey, I got to spend that time showing you guys a little piece of me.
Have yourselves a great Monday!
